Noisy Miner

Description:

Male and female similar, honeyeater, noisy (hence the name!), grows to just under 30cm, white/pale grey belly and throat, grey shaded back,head, wings, tail, olive green blended on wings, orange beak, dark eyes with bright yellow skin patch around eyes mostly to the back. Call is loud especially when alarmed, other calls include more bell-like notes. Alarm call is recognised by other wildlife who take notice (including humans). Diet consists of nectar from plants, insects and by-products from these. Often congregates in large flocks or family groups, known to 'take over' a site and evict other birds.

Habitat:

Found in woodland and forest, farmlands and gardens. Distributed throughout eastern Australia from north to south.
