Distinguished from the Black-winged bishop by black (not red) forecrown and brown (not black) wings and tail. Common resident, gregarious and sedentary.

Habitat:

Marshy grasslands and wetlands. Food: seeds, nectar and insects.

Notes:

Spotted at the rhino and lion nature reserve.
