Banded Longhorn Beetle

Typocerus velutinus

Description:

Black and yellow. This beetle is described as being red and yellow but my eye and camera saw black. I think it is the right id though.

Habitat:

Found resting on the flowering seed head of a rye plant. I use rye, wheat and oats as a winter cover crop in our garden.

Excellent Tom. Do you see them often on your rye?
