Nokota Horse

Equus ferus caballus

Description:

Wild Horse

Habitat:

Grasslands

Notes:

Just when you think you won't see any, over a hill or up from a valley they come running. Fairly unafraid of humans they will give warning (body language, snorts) if you get too close. I typically saw the male walking in back of the females in his herd, perhaps to protect them from rivals or dangers
