I found this lizard in my front yard. It is a reddish brown color and about 8" to 10" long. I have seen him on more than one occasion. I saw him eat a centipede.
I believe he lives on the ground.

It looks like you're correct according to Wikipedia.
Looks kind of like a broad headed skink. Cool shot.
