Solomon Island Eyelash Frog

Ceratobatrachus guentheri

Description:

The Solomon Island Eyelash Frog is extremely interesting for a variety of reasons. It makes use of coloration and shape for use in camouflage. This frog entirely skips the tadpole stage; a small frog emerges from the egg. It is a nocturnal ambush predator; smaller eyelash frogs are not safe. This frog is another that has a barking call.

Habitat:

Tampa's Lowry Park Zoo. In the wild, they would be located in Papua New Guinea and the Solomon Islands.
