Texas Bow Legged Bug nymph

Description:

Large size. Black-brown head, reddish-brown thorax, banded black and brown abdomen. This is the immature nymph stage. They are pretty good ant mimics at this stage.

Habitat:

Was found on Cow pea 'Pinkeye purple hull' (Vigna unguiculata) here in Louisiana.

Notes:

Closest match seems to be the sugar ant, but the head and abdomen seem unique on this specimen,
