Blue catfish

Ictalurus furcatus

Description:

This blue catfish was caught by a fisherman in DE. It is the first confirmed sighting of a non-native blue catfish in the Delaware Bay watershed and thus is the only photo available for the sighting and mission. This photo of a fish out of water is being used because blue catfish live in murky water where underwater photography is not possible. Photos like this are an important componant of this citizen science project because they enable to track the spread of this non-native species as it expands its range.
