American Robin

Turdus migratorius

Notes:

A few robins were feeding on the few remaining hawthorn berries at the ends of the branches. They had to lean way over or even fly by and grab a berry.

Thanks Tiz and pamsai for the wonderful comments. And you have a good point, what's common for me might not be for others.

Beautiful Tom. I really like the last one. He seems so proud to be being photographed. Showing off his beautiful red breast!

Tom, it is almost like we humans are programmed not to like the common after seeing it a bit too much. To be able to step out of that, and try to make common beautiful requires something extra in us. I think that you do a great job with your photos, and the Robin is not common at all to me :) So thank you for showing me how beautiful it really can be when the circumstance are right!

Thanks suzmonk. People around here think the robin is the harbinger of Spring, when in fact a good number of the stay all winter, feeding on berries and fruit from all the ornamental trees that have been planted.
