Chlorion aerarium
About 28-30+ millimeters in body length, bright metallic blue in color.
A handful of specimens were drinking nectar from milkweed along a dirt roadside adjacent to an artificial wetland on Chico Basin Ranch. Surrounding habitat was mostly degraded shortgrass prairie with cholla cacti.
This species is frequently confused with the Blue Mud Dauber, Chalybion californicum. Chlorion is brighter in color, less hairy, and more robust than Chalybion.
