Spotting

Description:

I believe this could be a chain/colony of phytoplankton. The shape is more like phytoplankton I encountered and it did not move freely like the zooplankton.
This was the only one like it that I found in this sample of thousands of plankton specimens.

Habitat:

A marine biologist on board skimmed some plankton using really fine mesh nets and we took a drop from that sample and placed it under a microscope. The sample was skimmed in Izhut Bay just off Afognak Island in somewhat shallow water (less than 200 feet).
