Onopordum acanthium

Description:

An introduced weed covered in a mass of flexible spikes from stem to leaves and flower/seed head, purplish 'fluffy' flower, grows up to 2 metres high, spreads easily by seed, heavily colonised farmland and natural environments after severe flooding recently. Milky sap.

Habitat:

Found in south and east of Australia with potential to spread further. This one found growing well with other weeds after flood had receded several months earlier.
