Onopordum acanthium
An introduced weed covered in a mass of flexible spikes from stem to leaves and flower/seed head, purplish 'fluffy' flower, grows up to 2 metres high, spreads easily by seed, heavily colonised farmland and natural environments after severe flooding recently. Milky sap.
Found in south and east of Australia with potential to spread further. This one found growing well with other weeds after flood had receded several months earlier.
