Eastern Grey Kangaroo (male)

Macropus giganteus

Description:

Grows up to almost 2metres tall. This male was close to that size, grey grizzled fur, black paws, strong hind legs and long strong tail used together for movement in hopping motion. Standing tall these animals were often part of Aboriginal legend and at a distance can resemble an upright human. Vegetarian.

Habitat:

Found throughout eastern Australia in forest and open country, this one on farmland near forested area where cover is sought when threatened.

Thanks ChiefRedEarth, LuisS & The headphones boss. This is one of the largest male Greys I have seen for quite a while. The 'modern' world seems to ensure not many get to such a great size or ripe old age.
