Two-Tailed Swallowtail, Male

Papilio multicaudata

Description:

Type of Swallowtail...in the Denver Botanic Gardens. Notice in the last picture he is missing a big chunk of wing...it's amazing how well they can get along without all their parts!

Thanks, Liam...I have seen more elaborate butterflies and caterpillars on Noah than ever in my life! They're fascinating in their "ornamental" decorations!

I don't think the tails are necessary for flight. I'm pretty sure it's just an ornamental thing. But I have seen some pretty ratty b'flies! Not sure on the species, but I agree with Swallowtail.

Thanks, Emily! I got the swallowtail part...it's in the Botanic Gardens...It was beautiful! I did take a pic of the whole top, but no butterfly, so didn't add.

Beautiful! I'm pretty sure the butterfly is a swallow tail! Where is this century plant?!
