Description:

The Hooded merganser is a small duck that is a sexually dimorphic species (female in pics 3 and 4). The male in breeding plumage is striking. Both sexes can raise or lower their crest.

Habitat:

Spotted at the Billy Frank Jr. Nisqually National Wildlife Refuge.
