If it's what you say it is, I don't know why they have that particular species; haven't been back in the year since I took these shots. But thanks for the ID!
Tough to tell from these shots, but it's a Cormorant of the genus Phalacrocorax, probably Phalacrocorax auritus, Double-crested Cormorant. But why a zoo would have in captivity doesn't make much sense since they're so populous in Illinois.
