Eastern Savannah Sparrow

Passerculus sandwichensis savanna

Habitat:

Grassy coastal areas.

Notes:

About 2" tall, spotted in a field off the shore of a beach along Lawrencetown in Nova Scotia. There were quite a few around, presumably dining on the plentiful mosquitoes in the area. Their call is a high pitched "cheeping", and they were quite vocal at the time of the spotting (around sunset)
