Rosy-faced lovebird

Agapornis roseicollis

Description:

Small parrot looks a little like a Quaker parrot but with a shorter tail and generally smaller overall. There was a pair and one was rather yellow and the other more blue-green colored. The second and last photos show the more yellow one. Note the yellowish forehead.

Habitat:

In the trees along an inland fresh water canal.

Notes:

These two parrots were noisy and called to each other continuously as they explored the trees in the area. They are rosy-faced lovebirds, sometimes called peach-faced lovebirds. This species has large color variations among its members.
