Conocephalus (Anisoptera) semivittatus Family TETTIGONIIDAE
Green with black marking on the abdomen and head
I spotted several of these Katydids in my backyard in the outer western suburbs of Sydney yesterday (2/7/20)
according to http://www.brisbaneinsects.com where I identified the species they are active at night, but the ones I saw were very active during the day

I've not seen this species before. It's quite unusual. It's good to have a break now and then. I had one about 3 years ago, and just had other priorities at the time. It was lovely to come back with renewed focus and some new spottings :)
Thank you Neil. Was a pleasant surprise since it was my first spotting upload for quite awhile
Beautiful spotting, James. That's a very handsome critter. Congrats on your nomination for SOTW.
Thank you Maria. I agree the first picture is the better of the three.
Thank you Mark. I will try and not make the same mistake again. Thank you for the nomination which is a pleasant surprise.
Especially like the first photo!
Your spotting has been nominated for the Spotting of the Week. The winner will be chosen by the Project Noah Rangers based on a combination of factors including: uniqueness of the shot, status of the organism (for example, rare or endangered), quality of the information provided in the habitat and description sections. There is a subjective element, of course; the spotting with the highest number of Ranger votes is chosen. Congratulations on being nominated!
Great spotting James.
Please leave just the binomial (genus.species) name for scientific name and the rest can go into your notes and/or tags. Thanks for sharing this one.
