Spotting

Description:

Sooo excited to spot this! 2cm long, wingless cricket. Black head and thorax, brownish red abdomen. Reddish legs. Interestingly, the hind legs are only red up to the femur. The tibia and tarsus are bland greyish brown in colour, as if to camouflage those long extremities. Seen from afar it looks like it is mimicking the Camponotus gigas Giant Forest Ant. It walks like an ant and only jumps away when threatened.

Habitat:

lowland Malaysian Jungle
