Strix varia
Large owl with a body length of 40 - 60 cm. and a wingspan approaching 125 cm. Head is round and lacks the ear tufts found on other owls in this area.
Found in wooded habitats. In this case, this individual was found in an oak/hickory/elm forest in the cross-timbers region of Oklahoma.
Most common owl in this area.
