Cephalopholis argus
colour variable, but yellow/green base with dark-edged light blue dots. The dots are compared to the hundred staring eyes of the Greek mythical monster Argus.
Introduced to Hawaiii by the state in the 1950's to increase food fishing, they have become a problematic fish. In Hawaii they may be ciguatoxic and are not targeted by fishermen. Their population has exploded and they are one of the main predators on the reefs there. Introduced from Moorea, French Polynesia.
