Oxymeris maculata

Description:

Also known as Big Auger, and also referred to as Terebra maculata, this is a species of gastropod mollusk in the family of auger snails (Terebridae). Shell size can reach a length of 5 to 15cm.

Habitat:

Distribution: Red Sea, Indian Ocean, Pacific Ocean. Found at depths of 1 to 70m.

Notes:

This mollusk shell (already occupied by a hermit crab) measured 10cm long and about 3.5cm at its widest.
