Grey wings with reddish orange. Small butterfly
Appeared to be drying it's wings on my car
No problem Dan, you were definitely on the right track! Keaaa, you're welcome. Keep up the spottings!
Thanks to both of you!
Thanks for clarification bee. I wasn't sure that's why I commented instead of an official suggestion. I'm not too familiar with hairstreaks, I recognize one when I see it but haven't seen too man personally.
It is a Hairstreak. The Gray hairstreak is a very similar shape and size, but only has a small amount of orangy red on the outer hindwing. The Red-banded hairstreak is named for the prominent banding that appears on both the fore and hindwing. Nice capture.
This is a Hairstreak. Looks like the Grey Hairstreak, but I'm not 100% sure.http://eol.org/pages/262409/overview
