Tabanidae
It was found in a forest in a very beautiful track in Serra do Mar Park ( São Luis do Paraitinga - SP - Brazil). At a first glance it looks to be a small fruit or a seed, but when it opened we found a small larvae inside and a small hole in the botton (Last Picture). The guide explained that the kind of horse-Fly ( http://pt.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tabanidae) drops its eggs in the Manacá-da-Serra leaves (tree - http://pt.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tibouchina_...), the leave create this cocoon in order defend of the strange body. The larvae grows inside it , does a small hole at the botton in order to breath and as exit when it transform in a insect.
