Western Banded Gecko

Coleonyx variegatus

Description:

This critter was feasting on insects under my porch light. According to the Peterson field guide for western reptiles and amphibians, there is a subspecies, desert banded gecko (C. v. variegatus), which I believe this to be, and another one called Tucson banded gecko (C. v. bogerti). Any herpetologists want to help me out?

Habitat:

This one lives in desert scrub with saguaro cacti, ironwood and paloverde trees, and triangle-leaf bursage. They can live in a variety of arid habitats, and are usually associated with rocky areas.

This one might have been a parent because we saw a much smaller one last night!
