Hippodamia parenthesis
About 4mm long.
Large grassy area.
My pleasure. I am a list, resource type of geek. Universities have lots of stuff on line now, but it is not always easy to find or use. Many insects do not exactly fit the ideal photo, so I like to have other back up information.
Thanks for the comments and the suggestion. I thought this was probably Parenthesis Lady Beetle, but was unsure because the parenthesis looks more like a semicolon on this one. I looked up that pdf, gator, and I have now photographed six of the seven commonly occurring Lady Beetles. Thanks for the info.
There is a pdf available from the University of Nebraska Entomology Department -- the link is pages long, but if you google University Nebraska Entomology Hippodamia parenthesis you will get the Lady beetles of Nebraska Digital Commons.... at the top.
