Tecoma stans
The bright yellow clusters of this tree appear in the dry season. The third picture has a bee in the flower (Megachilidae?) Wikipedia mentions that the honey and pollen of this flower is poisonous. Would this bee be resistant? Would it's honey also be poisonous?
Heavy shrubbery along the highway between San Cristobal de Las Casas and Tuxtla Gutierrez, km 11.5, 865 meters.

Thank you Scott for the identification. This plant has less lancelet leaves than some pictures, but they are spiny. I will watch it for the long seed pods and get another picture.
I believe this is Yellow Trumpetbush, Tecoma stans. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tecoma_stan..., http://www.floridata.com/ref/t/teco_sta....
