Waxy deep green front sides of leaves. White/silvery back sides of leaves. Knobby branches/twigs that snap kind of like asparagus at the junction points. Tree looked silver from afar due to the white/silver leaves. Tree was probably 40 to 60 feet tall and living on the edge of a brackish river (sea water flows up as the tide rolls in, fresh water flows with the outgoing tide). Does not appear to be any maple or sycamore I have ever seen. May be a foreign tree as there are a lot of wealthy homes about.
Tree was living in a dense river side forest among other native trees. River is brackish (salt/fresh mix) and very tidal. Rhode Island coast, but tree may not be native from even this hemisphere... lots of wealthy homes about.
