araucaria araucana

Description:

Beautiful evergreen araucarias decorate the city of Bariloche providing a lovely winter scenery to this delightful andean region. According to wikipedia, it is a dioecius tree with male and female cones generally on different trees; in the pictures, the orange female cones can be easily seen.

Habitat:

These trees can be seen in the andean region shared by Chile and Argentina.

Notes:

It is considered a "vulnerable" tree regarding its conservation status.
