Green-eyed fly with patterned wings.
On Oak leaf at Lake Hodges. Wouldn't stop moving. "native to NA (NY-FL-so.CA) & S. America; introduced for weed control to Hawaii and accidentally to several other Pacific islands"

does look similar to the images i googled for Acinia picturata.
Hopefully Bug guide will have an Id soon.
I think they are, too! They looked bright green from the top but I wasn't able to get a photo of it.
eye colors are awesome!
Thank you for the link. It's similar but the markings on the wings are different. There are so many that look similar in our state!
