Brown Anole

Anolis sagrei

Description:

Anoles are about 7 inches long. They can change from light to dark brown to blend in with their surroundings. Highly invasive to Florida, the anole competes with and eats many of our native lizards.

Habitat:

They prefer to live on the ground or in low shrubs. Anoles thrive in almost any habitat even urban areas.

Notes:

This is a male anole. They have a dark stripe on their back and rows of yellow dots. Females have more of a yellow stripe on their backs.
