Garrulus glandarius
This beautiful bird is a medium sized corvid, roughly the size of dove, mainly rufous in colour, with beautiful azur-blue pattern on wings, and black and white patterns on head.
Common Palearctic species, often seen in mixed woods - such was here; a mixed lowland woods surrounding a popular artificial pond, somewhere between Jura range and Geneva lake.
One of my spoils from the Wetlands Bird Count 2019.
