Bee-eater & nest

Merops apiaster

Description:

I noticed a bee-eater hovering low while I was watching some waders, and it took me a while to see where he kept disappearing to! Bee-eaters build their nests in the sides of soft, sandy banks. This one was between two salt pans, the divder being no more than 1.5m high.
