Phoracantha sp.
1cm long. Forward pointing head. and so on
On a Clivea leaf in a garden in a leafy suburb
. # little longicorn. One of the smallest I have seen. Thanks to Bayucca for pinning that down to genus http://www.padil.gov.au/pests-and-diseas...
I know very little about longicorns but as bayucca suspects, it looks like Coptocercus undulatus. Your beetle has similar cream- coloured patches near the outer margins of the elytra and white spots towards the midline. Also has the two white patches near the apices. I would go with Coptocercus, Stephen. Very clear shots !

The Brisbane Insect example is not the same. The neck is more knobbly. The rear of the the elytra are black with the colours on them. This one has a dash of yellow along the outer edge of the elytra and also is half the size. The neck of this one is pale and has splashes of colour while the BI one is darker and clear of colours. I have added a third image. A close-up that shows how different this one actually is from theirs, I had to limit myself to two examples. It was confusing me as well
Fast, yes! And maybe wrong???
Please, check this one! I am pretty sure it is Phoracantini. Are Phoracanthus and Coptocercus synonyms??
Taking a quick glance yours might be rather Coptocercus than Phoracanthus, but the more I look, the more I get confused.
I would be happy if Leuba, Mark and Scott may also take a look!
If I am wrong, I apologize...
