Copper-tailed Ctenotus

Ctenotus taeniolatus

Description:

A relatively common lizard and one of the first to be described by scientists in Australia, intricately lined the length of its body in black, white and cream, on a grey to brown base colour, with a distinctive orange/copper tail. Grows to just over 6cm, forages for small insects and spiders.

Habitat:

Found throughout eastern Australia especially where sandstone or granite rocks occur combined with most vegetation types except wet rainforest. this one discovered under leaf litter in sandstone rocky area.
