I don't think it is to sharpen the beaks.. I watch them. They check the trees before they start..

Well... I think they are looking for some insects.. The Trees are Termite free, but all have a hole in the middle...

This is the damage that the Cockatoos are leaving behind on my farms in the moment.. 9 trees!!! The Australian Beaver!!!
