yellow striped armyworm

Spodoptera ornithogalli

Description:

This moth was very friendly. It let me pick it up and hung out for a while on my hand as I observed it. It was very tiny no larger than an inch or two, length wise. I used a black light on a white sheet to attract moths on this night.

Habitat:

A few trees and grass area in my backyard with a large pool deck. It was humid and just finished raining all night. It was very windy and not many moths had attended.

Notes:

My method in camera choice is a cell phone.
