Tubastraea coccinea
Also known as Orange Coral and Red Coral. It is an azooxanthellate species (does not host photosynthesizing organisms), with very large polyps. It is a very aggressive coral which competes for space with sponges and other coral. It is a non-reef-building species.
Known to exist at depths of 0 to 84m.
When seen up close, the big polyps look like sea anemones. Spotted this lone coral colony at a depth of 13m at the Big Ligid dive site, north of Samal Island, Philippines.
