Description:

shell of a salt water clam - bivalve mollusc; 11 - 52 mm; glossy white with strong, clear, fine brown lines forming tents or mountain shapes

Habitat:

Prefers deeper waters; Gulf of Aqaba - Red Sea

Notes:

"L. castrensis is pictured in all the well-known reference books, but the blotchy patterns shown therein are found in the Egyptian Red Sea. R.
