Katydid

Microcentrum rombifolium

Description:

Commonly known as the Katydid, related to the grasshopper and cricket family. It was named Katydid as its rasping sounds like Katy did! Katy did! It's funny right?! It's a great angle wing leaf mimic and spotting it is quite difficult. It's a great way to escape from the view of its predators!

Habitat:

Spotted in the village of thailavaram. A once fertile agricultural land with large water bodies close by and has many eucalyptus trees.

Notes:

These are quite friendly insects and are harmless. The pattern on its wing is so realistic compared to a natural leaf. It's a beauty to behold the intricacies of its wings.
