Great Crested Flycatcher

Myiarchus crinitus

Description:

Medium-sized songbird; large flycatcher with bright yellow belly. Cinnamon rufous in wings and tail and pale wingbars.

Habitat:

Breeds in open deciduous woodlands, old orchards, riparian corridors, wooded swamps, parks, cemeteries, and urban areas with large shade trees.

Notes:

A treetop hunter of deciduous forests and suburban areas, the Great Crested Flycatcher is easier to hear than to see. The only eastern flycatcher that nests in cavities, it often includes snakeskin in the nest lining.

Thanks Alice! I broke down & got a longer lens - 80-400mm (although I got the less expensive lens that's not entirely compatible so can't use the autofocus) and it's cropped. This is one of a pair that visited my backyard that morning to greet me :-)
