Description:

Small semi aquatic turtle with a hinged plastron. Occupies mainly freshwater ponds, lakes, rivers and streams.

Habitat:

Freshwater ponds, lakes, streams.

Notes:

This individual wandered into my yard after a torrential rain, one of about a week of daily heavy thunderstorms. We live about 150 yards uphill from a pond and most herpes we see are terrestrial However, this week I am also finding bullfrogs in the yard.
