Hi Dudley, this moth is of the Eribidae family of moths. I'm of the opinion that it is Erebus atavistis,(http://africanmoths.com/pages/EREBIDAE/EREBINAE/erebus%20atavistis.htm), unfortunately the site does not give a common name.
