Green-backed Ruby-eye

Perichares adela

An exciting find considering it's a rare stray in south Texas. Perichares adela is a large grass skipper with red eyes. The wings have a mottled pattern and there are yellow spots on the forewings. The dorsal side of the thorax has iridescent green.

Spotted in an overgrown grassy ditch next to the forest edge.
