A worldwide community photographing and learning about wildlife
Enhydra lutris and ?
Photo credit Ron Eby. These photos are of Otter 501 (the star of our feature-length film! Check us out on Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/otter501), so we know the species of the mammal, but we're wondering about the species of the invertebrate she's eating. We have more interesting photos like this to come!
Elkhorn Slough - it's one of the last great wetlands in California. It's got a muddy bottom which is where most of the sea otter's food comes from. More info here: http://www.elkhornslough.org/sloughlife....
We have heard that Otter 501 specializes in Washington clams, but this one doesn't fit the bill. Seems she's a somewhat opportunistic eater!

Thanks KarenL! This is such a cool tool, we hope to create our own mission to help sea otter researchers. More to come :)
Welcome to Project Noah Otter501!
What an awesome series! I especially like the last photo - you can see the look of bliss on its face! We look forward to seeing more of this adorable little guy from you.
