Caterpillar of Blue Tiger Butterfly

Tirumala limniace

Description:

Bands of white, interspersed with circlets of black.Rather zebra-like if you ask me except for the touch of yellow.

Habitat:

Weed infested verge of the road in a neglected part of an urban residential complex. There is a creeping vine this caterpillar likes. The host plant is crowding the base of a Murraya paniculata shrub. This is the third generation I am seeing this year. I could see three caterpillars this time.I am afraid now of cleanliness drives that could see this weedy vine uprooted!

Notes:

The second time we took the pupa home and saw the butterfly emerge. Life cycle: https://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/13...
