From looking around on the internet I think this is a Chinese Mantis, a species of Praying Mantis. It flew up from the bushes surrounding our door a few days ago. I'd never seen a brown mantis before.
I do have some other pictures but the head is blurry in all the rest. I'm happy to post more pictures to help identify this little friend.
