Colaptes campestris (Vieillot, 1818)
A large, very common bird, endemic to Brazil. Not a very good photo, but interesting anyway, because it shows a quite rare, melanistic form of this bird. Second photo shows a regular specimen, with its strinking yellow neck.
Found in the backyard of a house in the outskirts of a small rural town.
