Bee-eater with carpenter bee

Merops apiaster & Xylocopa violacea

Description:

This bee-eater had caught a huge carpenter bee and was bashing it against the wire. I could hear a persistant 'tap tap tap' but couldn't work out where it was coming from! It then proceeded to engage in some fancy acrobatics which I had no hopes of catching! When I finally moved on, it was still bashing the poor bee.
